Arcadia bought all of the study abroad students tickets to go see a musical called "Everybody's Talking About Jamie". I have watched plays that my school has put on and similar performances on trips, but I have actually never been to a big theatre before. I guess I could consider this my first time seeing a mainstream theatre performance. The show we saw was "Everybody's Talking About Jamie". Arcadia didn't really tell us what the play was about so going in I didn't really know what to expect.
The show follows the main character Jamie, who is a 16 year old boy that wants to become a famous drag queen. It is about his journey of overcoming prejudice and discovering himself. I really enjoyed the show. I thought it was very appealing because it was modern and sassy. The actors did a wonderful job; especially the lead, Jamie. I also thought that Arcadia did an excellent job of picking a musical that us students would enjoy. Arcadia is a very liberal arts school; therefore the musical really appealed to the vast majority of us students.
I had a wonderful time going to the show. The Apollo Theatre is located in Leicester Square, which is in Central London. It was really nice going to a different part of London and exploring the area around there. After the show my friends and I went to a local pub to grab some food and drinks. Then we all headed home on the tube for the night.
